ITALIAN SHOWDOWN

The Italian Showdown is a licensed CrossFit event featuring thousands of people of all ages and ability levels, competing on the same game floor in fitness-based physical challenges. Established in 2015, was forced to cancel the live event in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic, but back to its original format, with a reduced number of athletes, in 2021.

Approach

The Blue Ocean Strategy approach was used to create and capture uncontested market space, thereby making the competitors irrelevant. The To-Be Strategy Canvas and the ERRC Grid are shown to explain where lies the Value Innovation of the Italian Showdown.

To-Be Strategy Canvas

The canvas is used to highlight how the Italian Showdown differentiates itself from other competitions.

Big emphasis is given to the Live event and the experience for both athletes and visitors.

Moreover the event is open to all level of athletes, making it more inclusive and interesting for more possible customers.

ERRC Grid

The grid shows the actions needed to enact the To-Be strategy. The different actions are connected between each other, e.g. it wouldn't be possible to reduce the price without eliminating the costs of Wildcards and increasing the size and quality of the Vendor Village, increasing the revenues from that stream.
